Yane Gadjev, a student in 12th grade, specialty "Metal" at the National School of Applied Arts "St. Luke", chose the last day of summer vacation, to present a series of magnificent old metal bars ... in the exhibition.
It is presented in the entrance area that leads to the social assistance office of the municipality "Serdika", at 8 Kozloduy Str.
Often sunk into oblivion and destruction, on Sofia's walls can still be found remarkable examples of the metal lattice sculpture. The contemporary look at these magnificent works, typical of a bygone era, charms the rediscovery of beauty.
"Through the grid of Time" is a project that aims to show a new perspective of this particular part of our cultural heritage. The campaign reveals an artistic treasure - decorative iron grills on the terraces, windows and doors of Sofia buildings from the early 20th century, hidden in urban areas as the Lion Bridge, the Draz neighborhood and the Ladies' Market. Although these parts of the capital are located in its center, they remain on the periphery of its cultural life. At the same time the buildings there have this unique atmosphere.
The variety of floral and geometric patterns, the peculiar rhythm, the functionality and synthesis of the architecture bars are a source of inspiration for aYane Gadjev - one very young and first-time artist who aims to "return", to the Sofia people, art objects that have always surrounded them. In the last four months he seeks and captures over 300 decorative metal bars whose poor condition makes them particularly vulnerable and at risk for their future destiny. As a result of his work in the archives of the campaign are collected nearly 3000 of his photographs!
In the exhibition, Yane Gadjev showed posters that represent bars and photo-zoomed details, black and white drawings and limited edition art badges with selected thumbnails.
The project is implemented with the financial support of the Sofia Municipality of European Program 2015 jointly with the Fund for innovation in culture.
