The premiere of this project gathered dozens of artists and intellectuals, politicians and public figures on July 26 at the Sofia Art Gallery.
“Moorages" is part of the traveling exhibition "Land Between the River and the Sea", which presents the canvas of one of the most famous artists of the XX century - Bedig Bedrosyan (1912–1989).
It was realized through the platform "Ancestral Memory" Association "Ararat" - Varna. The idea belongs to its chairman - Kevork Krikorian. Prime Minister Boyko Borisov sent a special congratulatory letter to Krikorian: "It is my pleasure to welcome you on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition of the Bulgarian painter Bedig Bedrosian's in Sofia Art Gallery. I would like to congratulate you for your efforts to strengthen the prestige of an artist - an important part of the contemporary Bulgarian art and of our cultural heritage."
One of the greatest friends of Bedig Bedrosian - George Chapkanov - Chapa gave as a gift to "Ararat" Association - Varna his newest project for a monument of the master of the brush. "Sofia Municipality strongly supports the construction of the memorial. The traveling exhibition "Land Between the River and the Sea" is one of the most unique experiences I have had in my recent years", stated emotionally the deputy mayor for culture of Sofia Todor Chobanov.
“It is said that memory is primordial code of love in time. So tonight I want to warmly thank all of you who took the time and came to feel the love and the almost magical energy of Bedig Bedrosyan. Thank you, friends! Memory belongs also to the future”, said the nephew of the artist and inspirer of the project - Kevork Krikoryan.
For the first time in the retrospective vernissage of Sofia Art Gallery shows the unique frescos of the artist from the oldest Armenian Church in Bulgaria – the one in Silistra.
Among the official guests was Mrs. Nelli Matevosian, counselor in the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the Bulgaria, as well as MPs, councilors, directors of galleries in the country. The official part was closed with an Armenian song by the loved both from Bulgarians and Armenians singer - Haigashod Agasyan.
The paintings of Bedig Bedrosian will remain in the Sofia Art Gallery until August 14th while the exhibition “Land Between the River and the Sea" is already included in the cultural plan of the National Gallery of Armenia for June 2017.
