Their incredible beauty revived the famous Pirin village on the 14th of October. The Ilindentsi Art Center Foundation, the Strumyani Municipality and the Union of Bulgarian Artists, once again, joined forces and for another year organized the creative action "Images and Sounds".
The basis of which, everyone knows, is our famous sculptor Ivan Rusev. He, together with his family and associate artists, has been building a stunning outdoor sculpture park in the Pirin mountain for 20 years. He sculpts it with unceasing enthusiasm, creative energy and very hard work.
At the opening of the creative action "Images and Sounds", the Mayor of the Strumyani Municipality - Mr. Emil Iliev, Deputy Mayor of the Humanitarian Activities – Ms. Fidanka Koteva and of course, Ivan Rusev, attended and welcomed the guests. He talked about the new part of the "Marble City of Arts" gallery complex, and then personally showed around the journalists, artists and cultural figures that had arrived specifically for the occasion. Everybody saw the stages of the creation and expansion of the sculpture park over the years, that made it possible for the people to enjoy the incredible beauty of the works of over 65 famous sculptors from all around the world, placed in an area of over 10 acres among the incredible natural beauty of Ilindentsi. Everything new this year at the "Marble City of Arts" was, as always, of high artistic value. And the ceramic sculptures of the artist Hristo Yonkov, specially presented on this day, provoked strong interest.
The guests also visited the art exhibition at the Ilindenci Art Center, containing drawings by Taraben and Nagji Patel from India, drawings and sculptures by Jaroslava and Jan Šitsko from Slovakia, and the works created during the Spring Pictorial Exhibition 2017 organized by the Union of Bulgarian Artists and the Foundation "Art Center Ilindentsi ". The participants in it - Dolores Dilova, Petya Deneva, Elitsa Mateeva, Yasharli Tahirov, Rayna Stoimirova, Albena Shinyovska and Stoil Mirchev have created truly amazing works inspired by the magical nature around the village.
The event also initiated a new creative event organized by the Strumyani Municipality and the Art Center Ilindentsi Foundation with participants: Sasho Stoitsev, Hristo Shapkarev, Nina Ruseva and Dimitar Petrinski.
Emphasis in the creative action "Images and Sounds" was the announcement of the 14th edition of the International Folklore Festival "Maleshevo Sings and Dances" /20-22 October 2017/. It is held every year in the village of Mikrevo and has already become a unique cultural bridge between the people.
All attendees were invited to enjoy the musical performances prepared by local actors in the festival in the new eco-village - Clay Houses "Under the Rocks". It is an ensemble of six houses with a unique shape and interior architecture built of ecological materials - stone, wood and clay with straw. At the cocktail there, under the pleasantly caressing rays of the October sun, guests had the rare opportunity to try the wonderful wine of Keratsuda - the pride of Ilindentsi.
