This was the theme of the lecture of Prof. Federica Olivares, which she delivered on the 25th of April in the "Prof. Marin Drinov" hall at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

The event was organized by the Institute for the Study of Societies and Knowledge at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and is part of the program for celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Academy. It was opened by H. E. Mr. Stefano Baldi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Italy to the Republic of Bulgaria; moderator of the subsequent discussion was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kiril Kartaloff from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The lecture was attended by ambassadors, representatives of the Bulgarian institutions, journalists.

Professor Federica Olivares is the director and founder of the Master Program in "Cultural Diplomacy: Arts and Media for International Relations and Global Communication" at the Catholic University of Milan. Her lecture in Sofia touched on the issues of cultural diplomacy and its power to change the world; at a time when everything is globalizing but also polarizing. She gave concrete examples of its development in different countries and the areas it covers. She emphasized on the role of social media, digital platforms, Twitter diplomacy. She also announced some news - one scholarship for the Master's Program in Cultural and Digital Diplomacy, organized at the Catholic University in its branch in Rome will be awarded to a Bulgarian student.
