On the 19th of May at the Hilton Hotel – Sofia, the "PanEuropa - Bulgaria" Association, supported by the "Friedrich Ebert" Foundation and the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin organized a public discussion on the topic “Sustainable Development Goals:

Better World by 2030”. The discussion was opened by Mrs. GerganaPasi, ​​President of "PanEuropa - Bulgaria". Special guest speaker of the event was Mrs. Irina Bokova, Director-General of UNESCO. The interest for her statement managed to fill the room. And her presence helped the event to achieve its goal - to create a platform for public discussions related to the newly adopted 17 targets sustainability and their importance to the transformation of the world. Among the participants in the discussion were Mr. Mark Donfiyd, director of the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin, prof. d.a.n. Arch. Boyko Kadinov, Mrs. Evgenia Peeva, CEO of "Together at Class" and others. Each of them focused around a specific purpose within their speech.

It should be remembered that 17 Goals were adopted at the meeting at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York, from the 25th to the 27th of September 2015, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the UN. They commit the countries to work tirelessly for the full realization of the Program for Sustainable Development in 2030, which contains 169 targeted practical tasks for the transformation of our world. Over the next 15 years, actions in areas crucial to humanity and the planet are going to be implemented as: to eradicate poverty and hunger in all their forms and dimensions and to ensure that all human beings will be able to realize their potential in conditions of dignity and equality and in a healthy environment; to protect the planet from pollution, sustainable management of natural resources and take urgent action in response to climate change; to achieve prosperity and a fulfilling life for all human beings, as well as economic, social and technological progress in harmony with nature; peace; to mobilize all necessary resources to implement the program through renewed global partnership for sustainable development based on the spirit of strong globalsolidarity, with the participation of all countries, all major stakeholders and all people. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of young people in the achievement of sustainable development.
