Apart from the capital, the Portuguese gave a concert on December 7  in Varna. The concerts of Joana Amendoeira in Bulgaria took place with the support of the Portuguese cultural centre Espaço Camões - Sófia.

H. E. Helena Margarida Rezende de Almeida Coutinho, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Portugal in Bulgaria, and Ms. Anaisa Gordino, Director of the Portuguese Cultural Centre Espaço Camões - Sófia hosted the event.

Joana Amendoeira is considered one of the most important Fado singers of the New Generation. Her voice confers to Fado a new glow and a new attitude without differing from its tradition.

Joana was born in Santarém (Ribatejo), one of the Portuguese regions with a substantial Fado tradition; at an early age she discovered the appeal to become a Fado singer; and the age of twelve she won her first prize at the "Grande Noite do Fado do Porto".

During the course of her career, Joana had the opportunity to perform in Lisbon's best Fado Houses ("Clube de Fado" and "Sr. Vinho"). Joana's latest Fado album, "Amor mais perfeito" (2012), is a special tribute to José Fontes Rocha, her master and one of the best Fado's composers and guitar player. Although born in Santarem, she grew up as an artist and settled in Lisbon, a city that left a strong footprint in her soul.

Joana's career comprises eight Fado albums; numerous participations both national and international; several prizes, amongst them the best 2008 "Disco de Fado" granted by the "Fundação Amália Rodrigues"; showcases at several Music World Fairs, such as in 2003 "Mercat de Musica Viva de VIC" (Spain) and in 2005 "Strictly Mundial" (Canada); and tours throughout Spain, Italy, Hungary, Lithuania, Sweden, Brazil, Argentina, USA, India and Japan.
