On the 9th of November, the Union of the Bulgarian Journalists held a meeting with H. E. Mr. Pedro Pablo San Jorge Rodriguez, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba in Bulgaria.

In front of the numerous representatives of the Bulgarian media in the hall he said: "Our country is undergoing important changes. Our goal is to make our socialism a more efficient socialism, a more social socialism which will increase the welfare of the Cuban people. This, in recent years, led us to important economic changes. I think it's crucial to know that all these changes taking place in our country are the result of both the sovereign decision of the Cuban people and the Cuban government. They are not conducted under outside pressure - of another government or of another country".

Then the ambassador concentrated on the more important aspects of the processes taking place in Cuba today which  caused the increased interest of journalists from around the world. In particular, the changes in the social and economic systems of Cuba, the opening of the country to foreign investments, its cooperation with Latin America and the European Union - one of the main investors on the island, the development of the Cuban-American relations, the problems with the Guantanamo bay base, the Bulgarian-Cuban relations and others.
