Message from H. E. Mr. Seyed Mohammad Javad Rasouli, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Bulgaria,

on the occasion of the 124th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries

In the name of God

On November 15th, 2020, we celebrate the 124th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Iran and Bulgaria. The number 124 testifies to the fact that the official relations between the two countries are historical and long-lasting, and Iran is one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Bulgaria. Even the informal and cultural relations between the two countries date centuries backs. The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Bulgaria are two countries with deep roots, ancient origins and history, whose civilizational and cultural manifestations are a cause for pride.

Despite some ups and downs during these 124 years, the efforts of officials of both countries have always been aimed at maximizing and developing our relations. In recent years, especially with the 19th session of the Joint Commission for Economic and Scientific-Technical cooperation last year in Sofia and after signing 9 documents for cooperation, the relations entered a new stage.

I hope that thanks to the common will of the statesmen of the two countries and taking advantage of the historical experience, the friendly diplomatic relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Bulgaria will continue to grow and expand in all areas. I believe that the deepening of these relations is not only in the interest of both countries, but also, in terms of their geopolitical position, is an important factor for the security, stability and development of regions such as West Asia, the Persian Gulf, the Caspian Sea, East and Central Europe, the Black Sea and the sensitive region of the Balkans, something that will have a positive effect on international peace and security.

Unfortunately, we are in a situation where the coronavirus has spread around the world without borders. The only way to defeat this virus is through global cooperation and solidarity. Expressing my sincere condolences to all those who are somehow affected by this disease and have lost their loved ones because of it, I am confident that the governments and peoples of Iran and Bulgaria will win the battle against it.

I congratulate the Government and the people of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Government and the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the occasion of the 124th anniversary of the establishment of official diplomatic relations between the two countries and I pray to Almighty God for health and success for both peoples.
