One of the most popular cabaret artists in Europe, a five-time winner of the German Comedy Prize, was in our country under the invitation of the German Embassy.

On 4th of April, Dieter Nuhr performed a cabaret show at the Bulgarian Army Theater in Sofia. On the evening he handed out a donation of 23,467 EUR to the representatives of the SOS Children's Villages in Bulgaria.

The funds were collected from a performance by Dieter Nuhr on the 23rd of November 2016 in Hamburg, Germany. The charity event took place thanks to Dieter Balman, who has been organizing donation initiatives for SOS Children's Villages for 35 years. With the donated funds the education of young people from the SOS Youth Homes in Sofia, Veliko Tarnovo and Gabrovo will be supported and financial support to students will be offered.

Dieter Nuhr is known to have been involved with various projects in favor of the SOS Children's Villages: by exhibiting his own photographs, participating in media events and sharing information regarding the SOS Children's Villages, by taking part in TV shows, personal pro bono cabaret shows, as well as by calling out for donations on his Facebook page. "The international organization SOS Children's Villages is a global actor on social engagement. That is why I support them!" says the actor. In recent years, his priorities are the programs for education and inclusion in the labor market for the young people that have grown in the SOS-foster villages and foster families, as well as the "Family Support" program for children at risk of losing their foster parents.

The material is provided by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Republic of Bulgaria.
