Under this motto, the Day of Serbian Culture and Sport, organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia was held on the 9th of May in the capital. Its partner in this initiative was the City Mark Art Center.
The first part of the day went by with a chess tournament at the embassy. Serbian and Bulgarian candidate master of sports chess players participated. A chess club of diplomats was also established. All representatives of the diplomatic corps in Bulgaria and employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and members of their families can join it.
The second part was a real celebration of folk music. It was held in the evening at the hall of the City Mark Art Center. In the foyer of this wonderful cultural space the exhibition "Leskovac Greets Sofia" was laid. But the real greeting from the Serbian city was the wonderful concert program. Serbian and Bulgarian folk ensembles, singers, musicians, actors took part in it.
The audience was impressed by the performances of the Professional Dance Formation "Geratsi" from Sofia and the Dance Ensemble for songs and dances "Abrašević" from the Cultural Center of the town of Leskovac, that had brought here their children's troupe. The audience enthusiastically applauded the songs of the ethnic group of the girls from “Stanislav Binicki” Music School. And the artists Maya and Ivan Jankovic from the National Theater of Leskovac cheered everyone with excerpts from humorous works of Serbian authors.
And to make the evening feel like a real Leskovac one, at the end, at the cocktail party, the hosts offered Serbian grill - so very well-known in Bulgaria. We enjoyed it thanks to the representatives of the Higher Culinary School of Leskovac.
