The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine in the Republic of Bulgaria - H. E. Dr. Mykola Baltazhi, invited Bulgarian officials and diplomats, political scientists and public figures on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the diplomatic service of Ukraine, on a solemn evening at the embassy.

Among them were Mr. Valeri Simeonov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria, and Mr. Yury B. Sterk, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

An exhibition showing the more important moments in the history of Ukrainian diplomacy was organized in the event hall. The emphasis was on the Peace Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, 1918, between the Quadruple Alliance and the Ukrainian People's Republic, which is considered a great success and the beginning of the Ukrainian diplomatic service. It is also considered the beginning of the diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Ukraine. A short video with valuable archive footage from its signing was also shown. The Brest-Litovsk Peace Treaty of 1918, is the theme of one of the central subjects on "Europe 2001" magazine’s new issue, which was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Bulgaria and was also presented during the evening.

The ceremony ended with a cocktail during which the talks on the achievements of the Ukrainian diplomacy continued.
