On the occasion of the 39th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, a reception took place on February 8th in the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Sofia.

Mr. Hassan Dotaghi, charge d’affaires ad interim of the Embassy of Iran, welcomed numerous guests: ambassadors, diplomats, representatives of Bulgarian institutions, journalists, cultural figures, friends.

In his welcoming speech he noted that over the last four decades, Iran has succeeded in creating and maintaining an independent political system. "The paramount achievements of the Islamic Republic of Iran include the achievement of genuine political independence and establishment of democracy, which have paved the way for setting considerable records in the pursuit and implementation of the principles of democracy, granting political rights to citizens, maintaining gender equality by increasing women's social participation, preserving the right of the minorities, scientific growth in various fields of medicine, nanotechnology, and industry, enhancing economic growth, and departing from the petroleum-dependent single-product economy, reducing the share of petroleum in the governmental budget, strengthening the private sector, and supporting domestic  and foreign financiers. At the present time and based upon the global economic indices, Iran is the 18th most effective economy in the world."

Mr. Dotagi added that "unity and solidarity" are the main factor for the progress of the people of Iran.

The Charge d’affaires ad interim touched also the topic of stability in the region of the Middle East, emphasising the important role of Iran in that direction. His country respects the territorial integrity of all states, successfully combats terrorism and extremism and has warmly hosted 3 million refugees.

"The signing of the nuclear agreement is not only the confirmation of the Islamic Republic of Iran's policies for interaction with the international system, but also serves as a successful example of international interaction and multilateral diplomacy encompassing the interests of all parties and can even serve as a model for resolving other international crises."

Mr. Dotagi also said: "Today, Iran's political dialogue and diplomacy has many audiences among nations and states in the international community. We are proud of our friends and allies who choose dialogue and peaceful means of diplomacy over the approaches of violence and oppression. Republic of Bulgaria has long been our reliable partner and friend in the EU. The two countries rooted and stable relations and common interests has been and continued to be based on mutual respect. We have proudly celebrated our 120 anniversaries of the two countries relations in 2017 and have been able to continue developing and strengthening our relations. I would like to note that the economic partnerships between Iran and Bulgaria had a 200 percent growth in the past year and 8 provinces between the two countries are in mutual collaborations."

Finally, Mr. Dotagi wished success to Bulgaria during its presidency of the EU Council.

Then the guests enjoyed the lovely Persian cuisine prepared by Chef Mohammadi who is the chef of the Embassy. He offered them 8 delicious specialties, out of nearly 2,500 different Iranian dishes.

The visiting Iranian musicians, who performed traditional Persian music also contributed to the mood of the evening. The artists, who came at the invitation of the Cultural Representation to the IR Iran Embassy specifically for the 39th National Day of the country, had two more concerts – on 9 and 10 February, respectively in Sofia and Plovdiv.
