On the 17th of March, the Irish everywhere in the world celebrate. The day of St. Patrick, considered the patron of their country, is their national holiday.

Traditionally, in the Irish capital, Dublin, thousands of people walk in the streets in green robes under the sounds of music. According to the legend, Saint Patrick is a priest who spread the faith of Christ in the 5th century, and in his sermons he used the clover growing in Ireland as a symbol of the Holy Trinity.

On the 19th of March in Sofia Hotel Balkan, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ireland to the Republic of Bulgaria – H. E. Mr. Michael Forbes, gave a reception on the occasion of the national holiday of the country. He welcomed his guests in Bulgarian with "Welcome!"; congratulated the Bulgarian President for the EU Presidency and said that St. Patrick's Day is a national but also an international day, because not only the millions of Irish people scattered around the world celebrate it, but also all people alongside them, regardless of ethnicity, race, and gender. "Everyone on this day is Irish and celebrates".

He noted that he would not talk about Ireland, about the economic upturn of his country, about BREXIT, the good relations between Bulgaria and Ireland and other serious topics, and about the pleasure of working in Bulgaria. He said he was happy as an ambassador in our country because the two nations are alike and have a similar soul.The Irish feast received an impressive number of ambassadors, diplomats, officials, journalists and representatives of the Irish community. All of them enjoyed the traditional Irish cuisine and had the opportunity to taste the world famous Irish drinks.
