H. E. Mr. Anatoly Makarov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Bulgaria, gave a reception on the 7th of June at the Embassy on the occasion of the National Holiday of the country.

The Day of Russia is celebrated on the 12th of June. On that day, in 1990, the Russian Federation’s State Sovereignty Declaration, which underpins the first Constitution of the Federation, was adopted. Voted on the 12th of December 1993,  it entered into force after its official publication on the 25th of December 1993. The Constitution ends the system of the Soviets; and a federal assembly of the Russian Federation was formed. According to it, the head of state is the president, to whom much of the real power was transferred.

H. E. Mr. Anatoly Makarov greeted the numerous guests at the reception. He noted that he was glad to see how the political relations between our countries began to accelerate to a level of brotherly warmth and love that has always existed between the Russian and the Bulgarian people. He expressed his hope that with the active support and help of all those present, this will continue in the future.

The Vice President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mrs. Iliana Iotova, also greeted the guests. She stressed Russia's outstanding role for the Liberation of Bulgaria 140 years ago and the role of our country for the development of the culture of the Slavic people. She emphasised on the recent visit of President Radev to Russia - "the first important step to trigger the dialogue between our two countries on the highest level", she also accented on the important role of the RF in solving global problems in the world today.

Ambassadors, ministers, diplomats, deputies, veterans, representatives of the state administration, the Russian diaspora in Bulgaria and friends of Russia were present at the meeting. They enjoyed traditional Russian and other dishes and drinks.

The musicians from the Wind Orchestra, to the Academy of the Ministry of Interior, with conductor Alexander Ivanov, contributed for the pleasant mood of the evening. An accent in everyone's conversations was, of course, the forthcoming World Cup 2018 in Russia.
