On the 22nd of October, H. E. Ms. Tekla Harangozó, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to the Republic of Bulgaria, and her husband, Mr. Chaba Balaj, gave a reception at the Hungarian Embassy

on the occasion of the National Day of the country and the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Sofia.

The 23rd of October marks the Day of the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and the battle for freedom. With this celebration, the Hungarian people pay tribute to the bold and determined fighters who have participated in the revolution and expressed the desire of the Hungarian society for independence and free expression of will.

The embassy’s reception was attended by numerous guests, including ambassadors, diplomats, officials, representatives of the DSK Bank, businessmen, many friends of Hungary and Hungarians living in Bulgaria.

They had the chance to taste traditional Hungarian specialties and lovely Hungarian wines.

Two days before the reception, on the 20th of October, the "Feast for Hungary" concert took place in Bulgaria Hall on the occasion of Hungary's national day and as a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Hungarian Cultural Institute in Sofia. The Sofia Philharmonic, under the leadership of one of the most famous Hungarian conductors Gábor Hollerung, performed works by Zoltan Kodaly, Franz Liszt and Bela Bartók. The participation of the young Bulgarian pianist Dora Deliyska was also impressive.
