On the 1st of November, H. E. Ms. Latifa Benazza, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Republic of Bulgaria, gave a reception in Sofia Hotel Balkan on the occasion of the national holiday of the country.

This year, Algerians celebrate the 64th anniversary of the victory of the Revolution in 1954.

In her congratulatory speech to the guests, H. E. Ms. Latifa Benazza said:

It is a pleasure for me to welcome you to the celebration of the 64th anniversary of the glorious Revolution of 1 November 1954, the national holiday of my country, Algeria.

The November Revolution is not a common phenomenon in Algerian history, but a date on which the Algerians showed the world how a nation finds strength to rise as one to break the chains of the colonial yoke that lasted for more than a century. This revolution became a precursor for freedom for the oppressed nations and illuminated their path towards it. It is still a source of hope for other oppressed peoples who have not tasted freedom yet.

Dear guests,

Today, my country has made remarkable progress in a number of areas, thanks to the development programs drawn by the Algerian government despite the major challenges it faces in today's international economic environment. Algeria seeks to diversify its economy and attract foreign investment through legislative measures ensuring favorable conditions for foreign investors in the Algerian market and by providing opportunities for profits based on mutual benefit.

Dear attendees,

The historical relations between Algeria and Bulgaria encompass all spheres and bring benefits to both friendly nations.

The visit of H. E. Mr. Abdelkader Messahel, the Algerian Foreign Minister, to Bulgaria in March, contributed greatly for the further strengthening of the Algerian-Bulgarian friendship and gave a strong impetus to the bilateral co-operation in all areas.

I am convinced that the will of the state leadership of the two countries and their constant efforts will lead towards strengthening the privileged bilateral relations and their development for the benefit of the Algerian and Bulgarian people.

Eternal glory of the heroes who died in Algeria!

Long live Algeria, long live Bulgaria!

Then, along with the ambassadors of the African countries, Her Excellency cut the festive cake.

Numerous guests from the diplomatic corps and state institutions, Algerian friends and representatives from the business, media and cultural sector had the opportunity to taste traditional Algerian dishes and wonderful wines.
