On the occasion of the national holiday of the country and 100 years since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Finland and Bulgaria H. E. Mrs. Päivi Blinnikka,

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to the Republic of Bulgaria, organized a concert which was followed by a reception. The national holiday of the country is on the 6th of December, the date on which in 1917 the so-called independent Senate led by Pehr Evind Svinhufvud, taking advantage of the revolution in Russia, voted for the proposal to proclaim Finland's independence and declare it a republic. At the Senate's insistence on December 31st, the Lenin government formally recognized the new state. Immediately afterwards, this was done by a number of other countries, including Bulgaria.

In Sofia, the 101st anniversary of the proclamation of the independence of Finland and the 100th anniversary of the establishment of our diplomatic relations were celebrated with the concert Chamber Music from Finland and Bulgaria, performed by The Silhouettes ensemble. The talented young musicians who graduated from the National Academy of Music Prof. Pantcho Vladigerov , captured the audience with their exquisite performances. The program featured three works by Jean Sibelius and one by Lyubomir Pipkov and Pantcho Vladigerov.

After the concert, the guests had the opportunity to share their impressions and greet the performers and organizers at the reception given by H. E. Mrs. Päivi Blinnikka.
