His Excellency addressed the guests with a welcoming speech:

"I am infinitely happy that tonight we are celebrating together both the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution and the National holiday of my country in Bulgaria, as well as the 122th anniversary of the establishing of official diplomatic relations between the two countries.

During these days, four decades ago, the will of the Iranian people determined the replacement of the former political system, which was based on opression and dependence on the great powers, namely the USA, with a new one, based on the cultural teachings and beliefs of the country, in order to be independent from the influence and interference of others and founded on justice.

In that period, despite many hardships and external hindrances, the Iranian nation, relying on its talents and effort, came to witness a great number of achievements in the different fields of science, education, agriculture, manufacture and technology.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Since its establishment, the Islamic Republic of Iran follows an independent approach in its foreign affairs, based on mutual respect and the development of relations with other countries and Bulgaria in particular.

The relations and collaborations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Bulgaria clearly indicate the profound historical and cultural conections of both nations and the common viewpoint of the statesmen of the two countries.

Fortunately, the method of collaboration did not only continue, but expanded to such an extent, that in 2018 we witnessed development in relations and an exhange of many delegations between the two countries, as well as the latest visit of the Deputy Minister of Public Relations of Iran in Sofia, and beneficial negotiations with the representatives of the Bulgarian government, which is estimated as a benign horizon for continuation of the collaborations in 2019.

I use the occasion to thank the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bulgaria in particular for the copartnership I have had with them since the begining of my mission in Sofia.

Lastly, I want to put emphasis on the eternal and growing friendship between the two countries, and to wish both nations prosperity and happiness."

On the part of Bulgaria, formal addresses were presented by Mr. Rossen Jeliazkov – Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Krasen Kralev – Minister of Youth and Sports.

Later on, the guests of the reception enjoyed famous Iranian culinary specialities, made by the chef and traditional Iranian music, all in the elegant environment of the embassy.
