On 28th of May in Sofia Hotel Balkan H. E. Mr. Alberto Alfredo Manuel Trueba, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Argentina to Bulgaria, and his wife, Mrs. Carina Tomassini, gave a reception on the occasion of the national holiday of the country.

Many guests came to the residence, to pay tribute: politicians, ambassadors, journalists, cultural figures, people who have linked their destiny to the Latin American state.

In his welcoming speech to the attending ones, the Ambassador said:

Today, we, the Argentineans, celebrate the 209th anniversary of the May Revolution. On the 25th of May 1810, our country declared its aspirations to set out as a revived nation on the path of independent development and active membership of the world.

In 2015, when President Macri took over the leadership of the country, we sent a clear message to the international community - Argentina is ready to take its place on the world stage, to take on its role as a positive regional and global power by developing and implementing strategies for adapting to the realities of the 21st century and taking advantage of the opportunities that this century has to offer.

he intelligent international engagement has become our goal, which stimulates us to develop an open and transparent national program reflecting the peaceful, democratic and diverse nature of Argentina. Active and intense diplomacy has helped build trust between us and the international community and achieve concrete results in a number of initiatives in the field of cooperation, the intensification of international trade, the modernization of the structures for regional integration and the move towards 170 new markets.

President Macri and the whole government have strongly committed themselves to turning Argentina into a key factor. We organized the XI World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial Meeting; successfully hosted the first G20 summit in South America and won the recognition of the Heads of State and Government of the world's leading economies; we welcomed athletes from all over the world during the Youth Olympic Games and became hosts of the Second South-South Cooperation United Nations’ Conference. We took a constructive engagement in key global issues such as sustainable development, protection of human rights and democracy, tackling universal threats such as drug trafficking and terrorism, as well as topics of the security and defense agenda.

May 25 has always been a special date for all Argentinians, so I would like to call on you to continue working together and with all of you to become involved in this transition moment that Argentina is experiencing. We need each of you, as well as all our partners around the world, to move forward, share experience and improve our skills.

Three and a half years ago, we, the Argentinians, chose to make a change that amazed the world. Today we celebrate the successes of this change, which has placed solid developmental foundations in complete and incessant integration with the rest of the world.

At the end H. E. Mr. Alberto Alfredo Manuel Trueba warmly thanked the companies that import Argentinean products; the ones that invest in our country and implement Argentinean technology in Bulgaria; all educators, researchers, translators and publishers from the South Program who are making efforts to disseminate the Argentinean literature in Bulgaria; the representatives of the music world and the numerous fans of the tango...

After the ambassador's speech, the guests got engaged in lively conversations in the cool greenery of the garden, embraced by the magnificent Argentinean music. The sophisticated wines and typical dishes of the country complemented the atmosphere with a scent from Argentina.
