On this occasion, at the Hotel Marinella Sofia, H. E. Mr. Mesfer Al Ghasib, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Bulgaria,

gave a reception. The event gathered numerous guests - officials and representatives of Bulgarian institutions, ambassadors and diplomats, MPs, businessmen, journalists, cultural figures, friends of the country.

The national day of Saudi Arabia is on September 23, the date on which in1932 King Abdulaziz Al Saud changes the name of the already united Sultanates Nazid and Hejaz, into Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and becomes the first king of the country. From that day onwards the Saudis celebrate and praise the king with lavish ceremonies and solemn fireworks. These days the country is governed by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

At the reception H. E. Mr. Mesfer Al Ghasib welcomed the attendees and the Saudis living in Sofia. He recalled the importance of the date, emphasizing some of his country's important achievements, as well as the progress in our bilateral relations, that were possible due to the diplomatic efforts of both countries.

Actually, the diplomatic relations between our two countries were established in 1995, but not until 2015 did Saudi Arabia open its own embassy in Sofia. H. E. Mr. Mesfer Al Ghasib is the first leader of the mission. Bulgaria's first ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia presented his credentials to His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in March this year. This is expected to enhance the dialogue between the two countries, especially in the trade and economic fields.
