Address by H. E. Mr. Dashjamts Batsaikhan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Republic of Bulgaria, on the occasion of the national holiday of the country

On July 11, Mongolia celebrates its national holiday - Naadam. This year we celebrate the 99th anniversary of the People's revolution on this day. The word "naadam" translated from Mongolian means "celebration-festival". During Naadam, traditional sports competitions are held: national wrestling, archery and horse racing, as well as many other cultural and festive events.

Mongolia covers a huge area of 1.5 million square kilometers, two time zones, a diverse climate and relief. The main religion is Buddhism. The main branch of the Mongolian economy is agronomy - mainly livestock and agriculture: cereals and legumes, potatoes, fruits, vegetables. The country is rich in minerals: coal, uranium, gold, silver, copper, molybdenum, iron ore, precious stones and others. The industry is represented by enterprises of the food industry, leather processing, garment industry and others.

This year we mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Republic of Bulgaria. On this occasion, the two countries plan to organize a number of visits, mutual cultural events, a joint photo exhibition of the Archival Agencies and other events.

In recent years, trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, as well as the business contacts between our countries have been intensified. We have good traditions and great opportunities for cooperation in areas such as agriculture, food industry and tourism. Our interactions in the field of culture, education and the humanitarian sphere are traditional. Mongolian students continue to study in Bulgarian universities under the Cultural Program.

In the development and expansion of trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation, I believe that a very important role is played by the Intergovernmental Bulgarian-Mongolian Joint Commission for Economic, Trade and Scientific-Technical Cooperation and its regular meetings. Its 7th session took place in Ulaanbaatar last year, and Mongolia was visited by a Bulgarian official delegation led by the Minister of Economy. In recent years, various visits and negotiations have taken place between the respective ministries and organizations of the two countries.

As part of the expansion of the regional cooperation, visits were organized and a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between Bayankhongor Aimag and the city of Ruse, between the Khan-Uul region, Ulaanbaatar, and the Izgrev Region, Sofia Municipality. I am glad that the fruitful cooperation between our two countries is expanding in all areas.

I wish all the best to the Diplomatic Spectrum team and its readers. Good luck.
