On September 7th, H. E. Mrs. Maria Edileuza Fontenele Reis, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the Republic of Bulgaria,
gave a reception on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of Brazil (1822) at her residence. This significant date, September 7th, is also the National Day for this, the fifth largest in terms of area and sixth largest in terms of population, country in the world, which ranks ninth in economic prosperity.
The reception on the occasion of the bicentennial National Day was honored by ministers, ambassadors, diplomats, representatives of government institutions and civil organizations, journalists, and friends. After the performance of the Bulgarian and Brazilian national anthems by the string trio "Bel Canto", H. E. Mrs. Maria Edileuza Fontenelle Reis addressed her guests with a welcome speech. She emphasized the importance of the Declaration of Independence for the Brazilian people, Brazil’s achievements during these 200 years of free and independent development, and the bilateral relations between Brazil and Bulgaria. Afterward, the guests indulged in lively conversation in the idyllic atmosphere of the residence garden. The Brazilian hosts were particularly animated on this momentous occasion for their nation. Both guests and hosts enjoyed the refreshing "caipirinhas" and the delectable Brazilian delicacies, such as savory "coxinhas" and sweet "brigadeiros de chocolate".
