On July 21, His Excellency Mr. Frédéric Meurice, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to the Republic of Bulgaria, and his spouse hosted a reception
at their residence on the occasion of the national holiday of the country and the closing of the Belgian Days 2023, organized in collaboration with the Business Club Belgium-Bulgaria-Luxembourg. The event was attended by ministers, deputies, ambassadors, diplomats, Belgians living in our country, and friends. Later, the embassy thanked all the guests who attended the event, its sponsors, and the Business Club Belgium-Bulgaria-Luxembourg on Facebook.
This time, the traditional ambassador's speech was presented in an unconventional format - in the form of questions and answers. Rositsa Koleva from the Belgian embassy asked the questions, and His Excellency Mr. Frédéric Meurice provided the answers. This unique interview primarily focused on the bilateral relations between our countries, which are deepening further. It revealed aspects of the deep friendship that exists between the Kingdom of Belgium and the Republic of Bulgaria. The Ambassador recalled that after Spain, which currently holds the presidency of the Council of the European Union, Belgium will assume the rotating six-month presidency and expressed hope that by then, Bulgaria and Romania will be part of the Schengen Area.
This year, Belgium's national holiday marks the 10th anniversary of King Philippe's reign. Throughout the day, festivities have taken place in the Belgian capital, culminating in fireworks. Guests at the Belgian embassy in Sofia also shared in the joy of the Belgians in the cool garden of the residence, enjoying unique beers and other Belgian specialties.
