In his address to the guests, His Excellency said: „On 1 December, my country celebrates 98 years since the unification of all territories inhabited by Romanians into one single state.  This represented a milestone within the process of establishing the modern Romanian State. It was, at the same time, the beginning of a process of modernization, which, after almost one century, lead Romania towards becoming a democratic, tolerant and responsible State, dedicated to the European fundamental values. “

Later in his speech, the newly appointed Romanian Ambassador pointed out that our two countries are partners in the European Union and NATO and have excellent bilateral relations characterized as „deep partnership“ at all levels. Their cooperation within the EU is dynamic, and the preparation of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2018 and the Romanian one in 2019 will offer new opportunities to deepen it.

The reception was accompanied by an exhibition of traditional Romanian carpets that attracted the interest of the guests.
