On 22 May H. E. Mr. Alberto Alfredo Manuel Trueba, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Argentina in Bulgaria, and his wife Mrs. Carina Tomassini gave a reception in Sofia Hotel Balkan on the occasion of the national holiday of the country.

On May 25 the Argentinians celebrate the May Revolution of 1810. On that date, a government which rejected the Spanish crown was established, and this triggered the independence process culminating in the proclamation of independence on 9 July 1816.

In his greetings to the guests H. E. Mr. Alberto Alfredo Manuel Trueba expressed his gratitude for the warmth, the love and the hospitality he was welcomed with at all levels in Bulgaria. He reminded that this year it is 86 years since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between our two countries, which are friendly and stable and develop within the common values and principles. The Ambassador pointed out that "...the representatives of the community of Argentinians of Bulgarian origin, who live and work in the country, have undoubtedly helped for that. Fully integrated and at the same time proudly bearing their cultural roots, for several generations, they have contributed with their virtues as hard work and honesty in shaping our national identity". He also emphasized the fact that "Argentina today occupies a place of excellence in the world order, it strives its voice to be heard at a distance".

The celebration of Argentina was attended by ambassadors, diplomats, politicians, journalists and friends. The wonderful Argentine wines and dishes helped the good mood.
