On 27 July in Sofia Hotel Balkan H. E. Mrs. Manal Yehia El Shinnawi, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt hosted a reception on the occasion of the National Day of the country.

In her speech, she stated: "This event is not only considered as the national day of Egypt, but an event of glory to the Arab world as well. In 1952, the Egyptian leader Gamal Abdel Nasser with his colleagues from the National army declared the resolution with an overwhelming support of the Egyptian people. Egypt also supported countries in the Middle East, Asia and Africa seeking their independence, a fact   that turned the 1952 Revolution to become an important event for different nations."

Further, on she emphasized the role of the 25th January 2011 events, when millions of Egyptians took to the streets and squares on 25th of January 2011. It was a sort of renewal of the 1952 Revolution, which was a very important turn over for Egyptians to express their rights, to preserve the identity of Egypt supported again by the Egyptian army. "We are now proud of our unprecedented Constitution of 2014 and the great efforts the government is doing on different levels". As examples she mentioned megaprojects such as the newly expanded Suez Canal, the Suez Canal Economic zone, the ongoing work for the new administrative Capital to be built as a smart city, located 45 km eastern Cairo, nuclear power plant project and the Sinai peninsula economic program for development.

She also emphasized on Egypt´s role in the international relations and on "historically good friendship relations" between our two countries, "based on mutual respect and common interest". In the end, she expressed her gratitude to "the government and the friendly people of the Republic of Bulgaria for all support I got since my mission here".

The speech was followed by the unique performance of ASUIT folklore group that was in Bulgaria in order to participate in Veliko Tarnovo International Folklore festival.
