On last August 15th, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India in the Republic of Bulgaria, H. E. Ms. Pooja Kapur, on the occasion of the National Day of the country, gave a reception at her residence in Boyana.
On that date, in 1947 has been declared the independence of India from Great Britain. This event was honouredby ambassadors, diplomats, politicians, deputies, mayors, businessmen, journalists and cultural functionaries, representatives of the Indian diaspora in Bulgaria.
In the magnificent garden of the residence overlooking the Vitosha Mountain standing out as beautiful natural scenery, the guests have been delighted with the folk dances performed by The Ras Garba Group from the Gujarat State. They also enjoyed the pleasure of tasting realhigh-class culinary of traditional Indian art of cookery.
Later on in the evening, the residence building was sparklingall over illuminated in the colours of the Indian tricolour.
This was one of the first appearances of H. E. Ms. Pooja Kapur, who recently gave her credentials as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Bulgaria on last July 17th, 2017. But all attendees noticed and heard in her greetings speech that this extremely intelligent and beautiful woman had the ambition to raise the traditionally good Bulgarian-Indian relations to an even higher level.
In that same morning earlier, on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the Independence Day, a national flag of India raising ceremony has been held in the residence. There were many Indians living in Bulgaria, many friends of the Indian people and many of the Embassy’s Staff. Before them H. E. Ms. Pooja Kapur read the greeting address from the Indian president to the nation. There was also a video prepared by the Embassy on "What India@70 means to Bulgarians".
