Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria in Bulgaria – H. E. Mr. Roland Hauser, and his wife Geneviève gave a reception at their residence on the 26th of October on the occasion of the national holiday of the country.

Its date is related to the fact that in 1955 the Austrian Parliament adopted a Law on Permanent Neutrality, Non-Accession to Military Unions and Non-admission of Foreign Bases on Austrian Territory.

The beautiful building of the Austrian residence gathered over 500 guests - representatives of the diplomatic corps, from the business sector, from the Bulgarian state and cultural institutions and the media. H. E. Mr. Roland Hauser welcomed them, as he also welcomed the Austrian vice-chancellor Dr. Wolfgang Brandstetter and the Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Valeri Simeonov who joined the event a little later.

The whole atmosphere of the evening showed that the ties between the two countries - traditionally very good - are further reinforced by the fact that from the 1st of July 2018 Austria will take over the presidency of the EU Council right after Bulgaria. Together with Estonia, whose presidency is currently running, they form the so-called Presidential Trio from the 1st of July 2017 to the 31st of December 2018.
