On October 18, H. E. Mr. Alberto Alfredo Manuel Trueba, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Argentine Republic, organized a cocktail at his residence on the occasion of the visit to Sofia of Mr. Ralph Haiek,

Director of the Argentine Institute for Cinema and Audiovisual Arts (INCAA) and Mr. Fernando Lima, Deputy Director. They were in our capital during the152th EURIMAGE’ s Board of Management meeting hosted by the Bulgarian National Film Center. The meeting was attended by representatives of nearly 40 European countries and Canada. The Fund's President, Mrs. Catherine Trautmann, and the Executive Director Mr. Roberto Olla also took part in the event.

For several years, EUROIMAGE has attracted as members countries outside Europe. That is why in Sofia there was a delegation from Argentina to talk with the Fund's Board about a future membership in the organization.

H. E. Mr. Alberto Alfredo Manuel Trueba welcomed the guests, including EUROIMAGE's President Mrs. Catherine Trautmann, Mrs. Jana Karaivanova, Executive Director of the National Film Center, Mr. Kamen Balkanski, Director of the Creative Europe Bureau - Bulgaria, ambassadors, producers and distinguished names from the cinema industry, at his residence.

"We have this evening the most important representatives of cinema sector in Bulgaria and the most important authorities of Argentina. They are here because the meeting of EUROIMAGE here in Sofia; so it was very good to have you all here gathered. Thanks to Mr. Borislav Velkov, CEO of the National Palace of Culture, to Mrs. Jaqueline Wagenstein, director of CineLibri, to the representative of the Sofia International Film Festival, to Mr. Vladimir Trifonov, the programmer of Cinemania, to Mrs. Jana Karaivanova, Director of the National Film Center, to the representative of the filmotheque of Bulgaria. I also want to thank our friends from the embassies, we have here the Ambassador of the Italian Embassy – a great friend and a great film-lover. Thanks to the Brazilian and the Spanish embassies as well as the Cervantes Institute. We are very proud that Argentinian films are the most popular in our country, more than foreign ones."

Mrs. Catherine Trautmann also greeted the guests:

"We have many countries of different size, different culture and people are always anxious about extending the organization. So it’s a big step for us, the Europeans, to accept non-European countries in the family of EUROIMAGE. But that is the other way of being European – because we share. So in a way we share the same values. 

Congratulations on becoming a member here in Sofia. In this way Bulgaria and Argentina will be tied forever in the history of film. Good Luck!"
