On February 12, 2026  a reception was held in Sofia Hall of Hotel "Marinela" on the occasion of the 65th National Day and the 35th Liberation Day of the State of Kuwait.

The reception, organized by the Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Sofia, was attended by hundreds of guests, including representatives of the Bulgarian ministries (MFA, MOI, MoD, etc.) and the Bulgarian Parliament, members of the Bulgarian Royal Family, diplomats accredited in the country, businessmen, investors, university professors, journalists and cultural figures.

H. E. Mr. Ghazi Hamed Alfadhli, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Kuwait to the Republic of Bulgaria, extended his congratulations to the Amir and the Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait - H. H. Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and H. H. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad  Al-Sabah, as well as the Kuwaiti people, wishing them well-being, health and prosperity.

In his welcoming speech, H. E. Mr. Ghazi Hamed Alfadhli noted the excellent Kuwaiti-Bulgarian relations, which for more than 63 years have been based on mutual trust and fruitful cooperation in a number of areas of common interest and within the framework of international organizations. The Ambassador announced the expected signing of agreements on cooperation between the diplomatic institutes and civil aviation authorities of the two friendly countries.

E. Mr. Ghazi Hamed Alfadhli expressed his sincere gratitude to the Bulgarian side for the cooperation in the field of economy, which led to the successful visit of a Bulgarian trade delegation to the State of Kuwait in November 2025. The Ambassador expressed confidence that the delegation headed by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Doncho Barbalov, and the accompanying Chairman of the BCCI, Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov, after the high-level meetings, will contribute to the strengthening of trade between Bulgaria and Kuwait.

In the field of the cultural relations and based on the importance of cultural diplomacy, H. E. Mr. Ghazi Hamed Alfadhli praised the interest aroused by the "Kuwaiti Day in Karlovo" - an initiative carried out jointly with the Historical Museum - Karlovo in September 2025, aimed at promoting Kuwaiti customs and traditions.

The Ambassador availed himself of the opportunity to confirm that the Language Center at the Kuwait University will continue to provide scholarships to interested in Arabic Studies students, many of whom also attended the reception and who, together with the other guests, had the opportunity to taste Kuwaiti sweets, Kuwaiti traditional clothing, and acquire renowned Kuwaiti magazines.
