Programme was Celebrated. This happened on a reception hosted on December 10 by His Excellency Mr. Rajesh Kumar Sachdeva,
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India in Bulgaria, and his wife Mrs. Promila Sachdeva. Their residence in Boyana once again opened for the Bulgarians who have undergone various trainings as part of the program for Technical and Economic Cooperation of India (ITEC) in recent years. They come from different social spheres, mainly from the state administration.
The aim of the ITEC program is the participants not only to learn something new, not only to become better acquainted with the Indians, but to "create networks between people who come from different countries" as well. That was what H.E. Mr. Rajesh Kumar Sachdeva said, emphasizing that it is important to keep the contacts made during these trainings over the years.
The Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Programme was born out of the vision of the first Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, and was formally launched with a decision of the Indian Cabinet on 15 September 1964. Therefore, this date is set for Day of ITEC, and the Indian missions in the partner countries give receptions at a convenient time during the year.
The Programme is fully sponsored by the Indian government. It is bilateral, and 161 countries are invited to get acquainted with the experience of India in the technical and economic progress acquired over the past 60 years. ITEC includes: training, projects and project activities (for example, feasibility studies and consultancy services), business trips of Indian experts abroad, study tours, gifts (donations of equipment at the request of partner countries), support in overcoming crisis.
