The emphasis this year was placed on women's rights. And looking carefully at the group of African ambassadors accredited in our country, we understand why; because beyond the global goal of the modern world for gender equality,

most representatives of the African diplomatic missions in our country are women, exceptional erudite in diplomacy. Apart from them, in the organization of the event, which was held on May 25 in Sofia Hotel Balkan, took part the Honorary Consuls of a number of African countries. A total of 13 countries - Algeria, Guinea, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Kenya, Libya, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Seychelles, Sudan, Uganda and South Africa, traditionally joined forces to present their Africa - colourful, young and heading ahead. This happened through exhibitions, music, multimedia presentations and of course, through typical dishes from each country.

Host of the event this time was H.E. Ms. Manal Yehia El Shinnawi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Bulgaria. In her speech to the numerous guests, she said: "The Day of Africa has been celebrated since 1963 when the African Union was founded. In recent years Africa develops successfully, making progress in economic and social policies, as well as in the expansion of the role and participation of women in modern public life. " Later in her speech she expressed the desire of the African countries to strengthen cooperation with the Bulgarian partners.
