From the 27th of January to the 7th of February, a high-quality range of carefully selected films, documentaries and short films and media art were presented in the IFFR.

The festival’s focus was directed towards the work of talented new filmmakers. Since a few months, general and artistic director of the festival has become Mr. Bero Beyer –a known producer and advisor to the Dutch Film Fund, who has made a number of changes in the structure and organization of the event.

During the twelve days of the festival, hundreds of filmmakers had the opportunity to present their work in front of this impressive audience in number - 305 000 visitors, 800 volunteers and 2538 film professionals. In the official selection of the festival 252 films and 225 short films from over 50 countries werefeatured. Among them, the Bulgarian film "Thirst" directed by Svetla Tsotsorkova. Part of the premieres of the festival took place on the same date in several European capitals, including the House of Cinema in Sofia.

The International Film Festival in Rotterdam (IFFR) is one of the largest in the world, initiated by the audience and film industry. It aims to organize and stimulate film activities in Rotterdam. It happened this year- despite the cold weather; the second largest city in the Netherlands was filled with joyous festival spirit and multicultural exchange of ideas. The 46th edition of the IFFR will be held from the 25th of January to the 5th of February 2017.
