On Tuesday, December 5th, the Chinese Cultural Center in Sofia hosted a seminar to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative and a literary meeting dedicated to Volume IV of "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China".
Co-organisers of the event, supported by the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Bulgaria, are: the China Foreign Languages Office in Europe, CBT China Book Trading GmbH and the Chinese Cultural Centre in Sofia. It summarized the main successes of China's global development strategy in the country and the region.
The "One Belt, One Road" program is considered one of the key instruments of Xi Jinping's foreign policy, promoting a model of communism with Chinese characteristics internationally. The initiative, launched in 2013, includes infrastructure and investment projects in more than 70 countries and aims to build on the experience of the ancient Silk Road and reinvigorate global economic growth.
Volume IV of "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China" collects Xi Jinping's writings and speeches in which the president shares the principles for statecraft that links Eastern wisdom and a strong economic model. The first volume is expected to be published in Bulgarian by the end of 2023.
Guests of honour at the symposium dedicated to the 10th year anniversary of "One Belt, One Road" were Ms. Wang Min, Chargé d’affairs of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Bulgaria, Mr. Hong Hai, Director of the Chinese Cultural Centre in Sofia, Prof. Boyan Chukov, expert on international security and Prof. Dr. Iskren Ivanov, Department of Political Science at the Faculty of Philosophy of Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", the President of the Board of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists Mrs. Snezhana Todorova and others.
